| There are currently about 2.5 million orphans in South Africa, and many more children are vulnerable. About half of this number is because of the AIDS pandemic. We work with two groups that are doing amazing work to help nuture these children in a sustainable way. |

LIV provides holistic, residential care for orphans and vulnerable children. They place vulnerable, parentless children into a family environment where they receive unconditional love, spiritual discipleship, care and nuturing. All there physical needs are met. These children are tomorrow's future, so the manner in which they are raised will influence who they become. LIV has the goal to become a self sustainable village through farming and enetrprise. |

| Noah was born in 2000 from a need to take responsibility for these children. Their vision is to give them an opportunity to grow up into emotionally, psychologically and physically healthy adults. |
| In the spirit of “ubuntu” (caring for one another), Noah believes that it’s better for orphaned and vulnerable children to stay in their own familiar communities, rather than institutionalising them. So they empower communities to care for these children. |
| Noah’s 101 Arks care for about 30,000 orphans and vulnerable children across KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. The Arks are not buildings, but networks of care. They are largely made up of elected community members, and are supported and guided by Noah on a financial, organisational and skills training level. |
| The Ark committees and volunteers are Noah’s hands and feet on the ground. Each Ark provides a range of services which include, amongst others, home visits, food parcels, child protection interventions, general healthcare services, HIV prevention programmes or interventions, psychosocial supports, etc. |
